Happy Hump Day, Wednesday Friends! As promised, today I am sharing my food diary from my work trip to Boston. Editing these photos was the worst. SO HUNGRY!!! Haha :) I think most of you know, but I've been a vegetarian since the age of 4. My parents decided to veg out the entire family so I've been an omnivore ever since! I don't eat meat or eggs, but I will eat cheese and drink milk (although I prefer the taste of soymilk). I enjoy being a vegetarian and I LOVE FOOD! However, traveling to new places can be a bit of a challenge when you have specific dietary restrictions. I'm not super picky but it's always nice to visit restaurants that have been thoughtfully considerate of their veggie patrons. Luckily, this weekend I was travelling with one of my favorite coworkers who also happens to be vegan! Becky is completely in the know with all the best Seattle spots. Of course she knew the best Boston spots as well! I was also able to spend time with three of my fave Seattle to Boston transplants, Thompson, Ethan and Kellen (who also happens to be vegetarian)!
Without further ado, my favorite Boston Veggie Eats!

Ethan, Kellen and I went to Mei Mei for dinner on Saturday night. I was pleased with the variety of vegetarian options! We shared the steamed buns which comes with a compound butter that rotates daily. On this day, it was broccoli and butter. I love me some broccoli, but not gonna lie it was a little weird. But the buns were carb-alicious so I didn't really care. I've been trying to get better at eating real vegetables while on travel so I ordered a side of stir fried greens. For my main entree, I went for the Pierogi Dumplings, which happened to be a vegetarian option that night (they rotate their fillings and sauces daily!). The dumplings were definitely my favorite. Who doesn't love deep fried goodness? As Mitch would say, I was letting out my inner oinker. Never any regrets about that!

After Mei Mei we headed back to chill at E&K's home but not before a stop at the best ice cream in Boston! I gots me a sweet tooth and ice cream is probably one of my favorite treats on earth, especially since it's typically friendly to the egg-adverse. Ever since discovering salted caramel at Molly Moon's, I use it as my flavor of choice judging every new ice cream spots. Toscanini definitely passed the test! My ice cream was rich, creamy and flavorful! I was a happy camper after our visit.

On Sunday, Thompson joined us and we continued our food tour! We decided to meet early on Sunday morning for brunch. At first I thought a 9:30 AM call time was a bit too hardcore, but when I arrived at The Friendly Toast it was already packed! They market themselves as vegan friendly and boy, did they deliver! Breakfast/Brunch is one of the hardest meals to navigate if you don't eat egg, which typically make up 90% of the morning menus anywhere. I'm typically stuck eating potatoes and toast. At The Friendly Toast, they were able to make any egg omelette into a tofu scramble! I went for the Guy Scramble which included tofu with cheddar, avocado, black beans & fresh salsa. The dish also came with a side of THE BEST homefries I have ever had in or around my mouth. UH-MAZ-ING.

Lol, my boyfriendz are the cutest! Not gonna lie, this is probably one of my favorite posts I've ever written and I'm not even done yet! Even though this is a post about food, it's really a post about a bunch of meals shared with some of my most favorite friends. After brunch we popped over to a lovely little coffee shop worthy of any Seattlite's coffee palette! When we first arrived it was actually closed for a filming of Nova's "How the Universe Works." So we stood outside in the cold and googled other places we could go. But then the set assistant came out and offered us FREE drinks in exchange for being background extras! OUR LUCKY DAY! We spent at least two hours sipping and sitting pretty. Thompson and I were able to have an epic whirlwind catch up session exclusively in whispered voices while I had a hot chocolate followed by an almond latte. Both were super satisfying after being out in the cold. We couldn't have picked a better day to visit this cofee shop!

Last, but not least, my absolute OBSESSION discovery of the trip- Life Alive! Guyz, I have a serious problem with this place. I ate there THREE days in a row and would have totally wolfed down more if I had discovered it sooner. They feature super nutricious (and delicious) warm grain bowls. I know what you're thinking-
WTF, Kim? Warm grain bowlz? That's some hella hippie shit right there. I understand y'all. I was super skeptical when we first walked in especially because the menu items had weird names but don't ever judge a book by its cover because OMG EVERYTHING I HAVE EATEN THERE IS MIND BLOWING. They also have a super yummy selection of smoothies. I'll definitely be hitting up this place at least once a day when I'm back in February! Pictures of items from top to bottom, left to right: The Adventurer Bowl, The Alchemist Bowl, The Love Alive Smoothie, The Green Goddess Bowl, The Elvis Alive Smoothie and not pictured but highly recommended, The Carrot Cake Alive Smoothie!
So in summary, I spent all of my time in Boston eating. JK, Larbear, if you're reading this, I totally did real work too! :D I also need to give a major shoutout to the 41 Mega Pixel camera on my Nokia Lumia 1020! These are all straight off the camera phone, no edits. Not too bad, eh? I hope someone gets use out of my Boston foodie finds. First thing I'm going to do when I'm back in Boston is pull this post back up figure out how to revisit EVERYTHING. Do you guys have any Boston veggie favorite? Or even Seattle veggie favorites? I want to start a reoccurring feature where I share restaurants that both Mitch (ultimate carnivore) and I like to eat! Thoughts? Happy eating, friends!
